Blog Relaunch!

Welcome Loves! It’s been a long time since I’ve last written that I decided it was time to dust off the keys and start again! I had a vision in my mind of how I wanted things to go and let’s just say, nothing ever goes as planned.

I realized that once I started this Journey that I really never had a “niche” and I was often finding myself quickly discouraged. I became overwhelmed and just felt like I was all over the place. So I stopped. I went back n forth constantly in my mind whether or not I should continue or just stop.

The thing is, I couldn’t get this blog out of my mind. I couldn’t shake the feeling that I just couldn’t give up. I couldn’t just let it go. I just knew this was something I had to do. So I reached out and got some advice on what my next step should be.

So after doing so, I realized what my “niche” or “theme” should be.

I want this blog to be about my Journey. My Journey hasn’t been easy. But I’ve wanted to share it in hopes to inspire others.

My blog will be about Self Love and Self Care. I’ll also be covering Mental Health, Fitness, and awareness to different causes.

Along the way I will be sharing my challenges with my Mental Health of Depression, Anxiety Disorder and PTSD. I will be sharing my story.

I’ll be sharing uplifting messages and quotes to help all of us struggling to keep going. I will share ways of Self Love and Self Care. Im also going to be sharing my fitness journey. Being comfortable in your own body to me is a form of self love & self care. I haven’t felt confident in my body in so long and it’s time that I make a change. I’d love if you came along with me.

I asked on my Instagram for everyone to share an awareness that means something to them. There are so many out there that don’t get enough attention. There is such a stigma with Mental Illness that I want to break that. I want to break ALL stigmas and share awareness.

I have decided to share awareness by making bracelets. I have researched their awareness colors and I’ve added a small charm to them. Some that I have already done are

  • Mental Illness
  • Domestic Violence
  • Autism
  • Child/ Teen Sexual Assault & Abuse.
  • Lupus
  • Fibromyalgia

I would love if you have a Awareness or Cause that means something to you or a loved one to please share and let me know and I will make as many bracelets you’d like. There is no charge to these. I want to break ALL stigmas and spread awareness.

Thank you for coming along with me on this Journey. There is so much hatred in the world and I don’t want anyone to confront it on their own. Battling Mental Illness has enough darkness in that alone. I want to create a safe place for us to share our stories, to share our struggles and to break all stigmas.

Keep Moving Forward

If I told you how many times I have started to write this blog and then erased it, you’d be surprised. I had a few ideas to talk about, but I kept coming back to one certain topic. “Giving up”. How many of us at some point in our life’s just wanted to give up?  We felt like no matter what we did it just wasn’t getting us anywhere? That you couldn’t catch a break because one thing after another kept happening to you? That you kept putting good out into the world only to receive more negative? I HAVE!

Life can sometimes beat you up like the wind does on a windy day. Where you are doing everything in your power to hold on, to plant your feet and to ride out that wind. After all is said and done, everything is just a mess. Do you give up when that happens or do you just brush yourself off (fix your hair haha) and keep moving forward?

There has been many times in my life where I just felt like I was caught in one big wind storm. Nothing was going right no matter how hard I tried. Toxic people kept coming into my life that just wouldn’t help and they would knock me off course and I wouldn’t know how to get back on the right course. As that kept happening I just felt like I was drowning.

It is such a scary feeling when you just want to give up. When I was younger and was diagnosed with depression and anxiety, I just wanted to give up. I had so much going on at the time, and now I had to deal with that? It just became too overwhelming and I wanted to just give up. I did NOT care at all what I did or what life was going to bring me. At that point I figured my life was screwed up either way forever that there was no point in going out and trying to find happiness or to even fight the fight of crawling out of the dark hole I was in. I just did not care. Period.

However that’s when I came across the movie “Meet The Robinsons” (You’ll find out more about that movie in my last post “My Favorite 13 Movies) In the entire movie one sentence really stood out to me, “Keep Moving Forward”. I realized that no matter what happens in my life , I just have to keep moving forward because eventually I could get to my happy place. And I did which took YEARS. All I had to do was keep going.

So my advice to you, is Keep Moving Forward. No matter how hard it gets, no matter how challenging this life and world can get, I PROMISE you it does get better. It might not get better right at this very moment but it will. Don’t give up. Hang on. Hold on tight. Fight for it. Fight for that happy ending because it will come.  I would never imagine my life where it is right now a few years ago. If you told me I would of laughed. But I am so glad I didn’t give up because I wouldn’t of learned the things I’ve been taught. And most importantly I wouldn’t of learned who I really am. Hang on, I promise its worth it.

Fitness Update #2……I joined what?!

Hi everyone! It’s time for another update. This week has been a interesting week when it comes to my fitness. But I will go ahead and just start from the beginning with my assessment I received on Tuesday April 10th at Youfit.

Talk about EYE OPENER!!!

I went in being SO nervous. Honestly I felt even embarrassed. I have noticed changes of course when it comes to me wearing my clothes but it really ALL becomes reality when you see the numbers. I’m sure some of you would say don’t focus on the numbers, But this is honestly the most I have EVER weighed.  So after checking my weight and also my Body fat %, I became very stressed out. I felt my depression trying to creep in. I felt completely defeated. I felt as if it was WAY too late to make a change. I felt that I had to accept that my body will always be like this now. I promise you I’m not trying to be “over dramatic” but I’ve always been someone who struggles with my confidence and body image. So it was just a bad combination that night. When I left the gym I had to run to the store. I picked up some produce and also some chocolate. That is my go to thing. I was just feeling so depressed and defeated.

142fb9d91b0a914f0a7b1499d7ffa1e8Through following other people on Instagram, I’ve known for awhile now about a fitness program. Its through a app called “SWEAT” and it’s by Kayla Itsines. I’ve heard and seen from others how much its helped them. So I went ahead and reached out to some of those people and I decided that this could possibly work for ME. Going with the app would of actually been cheaper for me in the long run than paying for a Personal Trainer. Also this app would work for me especially when my stomach problems flair up. If I went with a Personal Trainer I could actually lose those sessions that I paid for if I can’t show up. With my stomach issues the way they are, I have NO idea when exactly it will flair. So I have learned in my life to think way ahead for the “Just in case”.

So the VERY next day, I took the next step and signed up for the Program. This program plans out all of your workouts, Gives you meal ideas along with a grocery list as well. There is also a forum where you can post messages if you have any questions and also be able to reach out to others who are doing this too. There were a few different programs to choose from. Since I need to lose some weight, I choose the program that would help me do that. And once I achieve that, I have other programs to choose from on this app that I would be able to do. Its all included.  Now I am the type of person that if I’m going to start something NEW it has to be on a Monday. To me Mondays are FRESH starts. ACS-0044.JPG Ironically, It showed me that my Program would start MONDAY (April 16th)! I was so excited. I went out and purchased this book of hers, to help me with more meal plans since I do have to watch what I eat with my stomach. Now if anyone knows me, they know I DONT cook!! HAHA. Its true. So if I EVER get a cookbook, It needs to be fun like with bright colors, big pictures, EASY and I mean EASY recipes. I get very overwhelmed when it comes to cookbooks and recipes.  (Just ask my Mom haha)

I start the program tomorrow, but just from exploring the app, purchasing this book I really feel like this program was made for ME and works for MY needs. Even if there is a day I can’t make it to the gym, I can do some of the exercises at home. I literally have no reason NOT to work out.

17cdc5af915c91e441d235c712d4e094So like I mentioned, the app has all your workouts planned for you each day each week. Her book is also the same way. It has a week by week day by day meal plan for you. It’s SIMPLE and that’s exactly what I need. So I sat down and planned out my meals for the week and made a grocery list of what I needed. Then my Mom and I sat down and went through it and eliminated things we already had. After doing that I went to my local health food store “Sprouts” and went to shopping. I had things on my list that I never had before and some things I’ve never even heard of before. It became like a scavenger hunt and I had SO MUCH FUN! I felt a level of excitement and happiness I’ve never really felt before. I was actually already feeling proud of myself for the progress I was making there. I was able to find everything I needed and I got everything pretty much completely organic.  Now the next biggest task I’d have to face was “Meal Prepping” for the week.

SHOUT OUT to my Mom for literally helping me do this. We spent most of the day today in the kitchen Meal Prepping. A few times I was feeling overwhelmed but she was patient with me and we made it happen.

This is just some of the things that I bought. My shopping cart was SO colorful I loved it. So much of what I bought was Clean, Organic and just wholesome food. I even had to buy “Fish Sauce”! I didn’t even know that existed till finding this book. I’m super excited to try it though!

One of the things we made were these “Spinach & Feta Egg Muffins” for breakfast. I need something light in the mornings because if I eat too soon after I wake up, It will mess with my stomach. Also I needed something that was easy and quick to grab if I was short on time. Most of my breakfasts wilACS-0045.JPGl be either smoothies or something like this that is quick and easy to grab. It was extremely easy to make, however it took us 2 times to get it right. First time we made it, I only put the spinach and Feta on the bottom and didn’t mix it in. Also the recipe asked for large eggs and I had small eggs, so I didn’t use enough egg and it was dry. I kept telling my Mom I was going to remake it. I don’t think she believed me until I grabbed everything out again and was like I HAVE to get this right! Just trying again made me happy because beforehand I would of just given up and said forget it. But second time around we mixed in the spinach and feta and one extra egg. And let me tell you, its SO delicious!! This is one of my favorites so far.

Also in her book, She covers desserts. Now I have a HUGE sweet tooth so I gotta have my desserts! Haha. So today My Mom and I made two different ones. Lemon Pie Bliss Balls and Choc-Mint Bliss Balls. Each had only about four ingredients and are SO healthy. Honestly the Chocolate ones taste like Thin Mints. I don’t like really like lemon flavored things or coconut but I have to say, they were AMAZING. So good! I could eat the whole plate if I wanted to. And the nice thing about these desserts, Is that I didn’t feel so guilty eating them. They are so healthy that it doesn’t give you that guilty feeling. Also one of the really nice things about this book, is that it doesn’t take a lot of time to prepare or to actually make the recipes. Its so quick, easy, and so simple! Its really like its made for ME!

ACS-0048.JPGI’m really excited to keep going with the meal prepping and also trying out all sorts of new food. Also its a whole other journey I’m on trying to learn to cook and to figure out what exactly works for me in the kitchen. All I know so far is that I need to have patience with myself, and to realize that it won’t all change over night. Not my weight, not my cooking, nothing. It will take time, and that is perfectly ok.

Also I gotta be honest with you guys with TWO things. On Friday night, I went out with one of my Good Friends to a movie. I decided I was going to get a Coke. I just wanted to try it again and see if I would even like it. I barely had ANY of it. It didn’t taste good what so ever and the little amount I DID drink, made my heart feel like it was going to explode. I did not like how it made me feel. Its safe to say that I’m 99.9% sure my coke drinking days are OVER!!

Also, I hate admitting this but I told you all that I was going to be completely real with you guys. I’ve slacked off with my 21 day Planking Challenge. Ahhhh! It drives me crazy that I slacked off with doing that. BUT I decided that I’m going to try again starting tomorrow. Just remember to keep trying no matter what. I had a friend of mine ask me if I was still doing it. I told him “No but that I was going to just start over and that at first if you don’t succeed to just try again. And that I wasn’t going to just quit”. That’s something that I hope everyone remembers…. Just keep trying!!

Alright guys, Its time for my VERY first fitness update…..

This life style change is really hard. For some reason I sorta thought it would be easier but I quickly realized this will take some time haha. Something I keep telling myself is that …..

“A little progress each day adds up to big results”

Over this past week, I went and signed up at the gym. img-7705.jpgOn Tuesday April 10th I’ll actually go and get a health assessment done with Youfit. That is where I’ll go in and get weighed, measured, and be able to share with a trainer my fitness goals. They will then give me workout routines that would work for me and my specific goals I want to reach. FYI when you go in and sign up with Youfit, they offer this HOUR free assessment. I highly recommend you take advantage of this because they really give you a clean slate to start from. Ill share more info in my next update with what I learn from my assessment. Wish me luck!!!

Also EVERYBODY knows how much I love drinking coke. However today marks 6 days free of ALL SODA!!! I am so proud of myself for making it this far without any soda. I know there will be days I will eventually drink “Ginger Ale” due to my stomach problems because that helps me a lot with my nausea but other than that I won’t be drinking soda like I was. I have had a little bit of a headache the past couple days but nothing crazy. And oh I have felt SO fatigue!! I think that is because my body is trying to adapt to this new healthy change.

I have been drinking at least 2 liters of  water a day! I’ve been getting the Fiji water. I made a goal for myself to finish at least one of these bottles before I leave work everyday which is normally around 4:30/5. Whenever I do finish one, I instantly refill it and then I will push myself to finish THAT bottle before I go to bed. Over the days of doing this, It has become easier to finish my first bottle way before its time to leave. I remember on the first day telling my coworker I feel like I’m going to explode because of how much IMG-7703water I’ve been drinking. He said my body would get use to it. I didn’t believe him. But hey guess what?! Like day three it became easier. He was right!

On days I was really wanting something to quench my thirst, I picked up this sparkling ICE water. I’m going to be honest with you. I’ve barely had ONE and it is WAY too sweet for me, and also the carbonation is too much. So really its hard for me to finish, but its a GREAT go-to if you want something to quench that thirst!

Years ago, I cut chicken from my diet to see if it would help my digestion pracs-0009.jpgoblems. It did and I noticed a ton of differences. I lasted about a month because lets face it, Who could stay away from Chick-Fil-A? I was currently only eating Chicken and Fish because over 10 years ago I had cut red meat and all other meats out of my diet because my stomach could simply NOT digest it. I’ve always been a fan of sea food, but to take chicken away just seemed to be too much. However back in January of 2018, I decided to take chicken away again and see if I would of receive the same results. And I DID! So I haven’t had chicken since January and I only miss it because of Chick-Fil-A haha. So with that I wanted to find something I could take in my lunches that would be healthier. I can’t eat a lot of food at once because of my Gastroparesis so I needed to find something small and quick to grab because I like my food convenient hahaha!  One day when I was shopping at Publix, I came across these tuna packs. Now I’ve never been a fan of tuna, but the “Sun Dried Tomato & Basil” caught my eye. So I grabbed one and was prepared to hate it. NOPE, I was quickly addicted. So I went back and grabbed the other 2 flavors and quickly fell in love. I know people say I wouldn’t get enough protein because I’m not eating chicken, But with eating these tuna packs I’m getting protein from other resources like beans. So go and find these, I PROMISE you wont be disappointed!

So I did go out and get a few things for home incase I couldn’t make it to the gym one day. I was able to find the Yoga Mat and Dumbbells at my local Walmart and they weren’t expensive at all. I found the Jump Rope at Target. ( Gotta love Target!) These things are so simple to get, inexpensive and great to use at home to work out if you are unable to make it to the gym. You can look up fitness videos on YouTube, magazines, and even buy some on DVD if you can. The gym isn’t always for everyone. For me I feel like iimg-7700.jpgt makes me feel more accountable and when I am there, there is NO excuses to why I cant work out. Sometimes at home I can get distracted and not do a work out. But at the gym there is no reason why I can’t. It is also nice to be able to go with somebody who can push you when you want to quit. I’m lucky enough to be able to go with my Brother In Law. Over this past week, I only went to the gym once. Ill be honest. But when I went my Brother In Law was so patient with me as we worked out and he showed me how to do certain things on the machines. He also pushed me and at times when I didn’t think I could do it, he encouraged me and well didn’t let me give him ANY excuses. We got the job done, and I’m super excited to go back tomorrow! Even though I only went once this past week, I did go on a couple walks in my neighborhood. And my Cousin and I are doing a 21 day planking challenge! Ill post details about that on my FB page!

I also went out and bought new work out clothes. Many things were not fitting right and also I get more excited to work out with getting a new outfit! You can go anywhere for decent priced work out clothes but I went to Target and picked up these items. I needed new work out pants and because I am so short and I do have some curves these fit perfectly! Also while looking in the mirror, I didn’t feel self-conscious. I felt comfortable and ready to get out there. That is so important when you are getting clothes to work out in. Get whatever makes you feel good!

Things I’ve learned this week:

  • If getting a new outfit inspires you to get out there and exercise, Spend that extra money and go get one!
  • If you are a grazer like me, (someone who always snacks) Make sure you have plenty of healthy snack options. Like I mentioned before, I like my food convenient. That is just how my brain works. So I wanted to be able to just quickly grab my snack.  I have had to pay extra for the convenience, but it works for ME if that makes sense. So if you can, spend extra if that works for YOU. Your body will thank you for that. ( I will also be making a separate post on healthy snacks)
  • Create a “Work out Playlist” I personally have Spotify. All of my music is divided into categorizes or moods. (Yes I’m weird, but I LOVE my music). So make a Work out play list to get you pumped when working out. Its so easy to just click on that playlist and get working out!
  • Have a good support system. I have my family behind me and a couple friends who continue to encourage me. Also my co-worker! He will make comments at work when he sees me eating my healthy snacks or refiling my water to “keep it up”!
  •  Also the BIGGEST thing I’ve learned this week, is that this will take time. You wont see a difference over night. But that is ok, just keep going and most importantly to keep your head UP. As I said before….

“A little progress each day adds up to big results”

I like to MOVE it MOVE it!!

Alright everybody………. Are you ready for the BIG announcement?!  *Drum roll please*

I am starting a new Journey into FITNESS and I’ll be taking you with me EVERY step of the way!!!! A friend of mine actually inspired me to get my butt back into shape! Back in the day, I use to go to the gym regularly and I use to be a runner.  I LOVED the shape I was in then, and I had so much self confidence. Of course life got into the way. I was diagnosed with Depression which put me into a funk and then I had my back injury which really set me back.  As other things started to get in my way (which I would let) and my overall health wasn’t stable due to my stomach,  I got out of my routine of going to the gym and working out regularly. Through out the years I would join the gym and only go maybe a few months and stop. Well enough is enough already.

I knew it was time to make a change, when I started not feeling comfortable in my own skin and would just DREAD looking in the mirror. Clothes started not fitting like they use to, and I was buying so many clothes because nothing was fitting anymore. There would be times when I would go try on clothes that I would just get emotional because I wasn’t happy. Recently I went on a girl’s weekend get-away, and that really put into perspective how UNHAPPY I’ve been in my own skin, where I actually said “forget it” and didn’t buy a swimsuit, or anything because I just wasn’t happy. Bottom line, I’m just READY to be comfortable again in my skin and have confidence.

I’ll be honest with everyone. When I got the idea to go on this fitness journey I confided in a couple of people and what they thought and if it would be a good idea to include it in with my blog and they liked the idea. I need something to help keep me accountable for doing this and what better way then to add this to my blog!! I am the type of person who needs other people’s thoughts and opinions before I go and do something big. One thing I really struggle with is my confidence. So I have to make sure I have a support group behind me before I make a decision.  I’m going to be real with everyone too. I’m going to share when I slip up and eat that yummy chocolate cake or if I miss a week of working out! I’m going to share my struggles doing this because lets face it, I’m human and I will make mistakes. This isn’t going to be an easy journey. There will be days where I want to quit because I hurt and there is going to be days when I need that extra motivation. BUT there will also be GOOD days where I’ll be able to say without a doubt that I got this!

When I say that I am going to be taking you EVERY step of the way, I mean it!

I will be sharing:

  • My progress- LITERALLY!
  • Recipes & snacks that are yummy and healthy!
  • Exercises that you can do at the gym or even home!
  • Fitness items that I find useful!
  • ETC…

I am really excited to be going on this journey. I am already so thankful for the few people who have known about this and have encouraged me to DO this and that have told me I am capable of doing it. You know who you are, so THANK YOU!

With adding this to my blog, My schedule will be the same. However SUNDAY’S post will be about my fitness and WEDNESDAY’S post will be on certain topics. Any questions just ask! 😉

SO EVERYONE, this journey starts TOMORROW.  Come along with me. IT WILL BE FUN!!

Do I? Or don’t I?

ChoicesHave you ever needed to make a choice that could effect your WHOLE life? That this choice could change your relationship with another person, that this choice could change your everyday life whether it be with your job or home? The thing is, every choice YOU make changes your entire life. From the moment we were born, we begin learning new things. We learn good things and bad things. Its up to us to make a choice whether we will choose the right or the bad. BUT either one we choose, it WILL effect our entire life. We just may not see it right away.

It is possible to make a bad choice. We all have. But at the end it actually can help us learn and to grow. We are in charge of US, no one else is. So it is only up to US to make our own choices.

Our life is all made up of choices. The different choices you make can will effect you, your friends, and your family. Anyone. From experiences I’ve dealt with in my life and having to make certain choices and decisions made me stronger. But some also made my weaker. However, after everything was ALL said and DONE, I was only stronger. If that makes sense. Haha. It was a very hard time in my life (Which will be another post at another time!) I ultimately needed to choose what was best for ME no matter how scary it was or the consequences I could possibly face. I had to choose if I should leave a certain relationship at the time. I had to choose to leave my fears and troubles behind and embark on a new journey to get ME back. It was very scary, it was life changing but it is a choice I am so glad I made. In my case leaving a abusive relationship was a good choice and at times I wondered if I was truly strong enough to get through this but even at times when we have to make good choices and it can sometimes can complicate life, it will eventually make life SO much better. Making good choices will make life easier or start the path to making life easier.

All I can say is when it comes time to make a decision or a choice, really think about it. Pray about it. If you know in your heart and mind that something is the RIGHT decision, follow it. Always follow your gut. If it takes time to think about what to do, that is ok too.

Choices that you make, can either make or break you. In no way, shape or form is anyone perfect. We will all make mistakes, but really our choices add so much story to our lives.
